Practice without streak shame
Why TCP refuses punishment streaks, fake urgency, and percentages of you - and what honest daily practice looks like instead.
Streaks are easy to ship and hard to trust.
They reward showing up for the counter. They punish the week life got loud. They turn a miss into a broken chain - and the product into a small source of dread. Once that loop starts, people do not practice the skill. They practice not breaking the flame.
TCP was designed against that.
Unused practice days cost nothing. Nothing shames you back.
What we refuse on purpose
- No scores that lie. Your records describe what happened. They do not collapse into a grade, a personality label, or a percentage of you.
- No punishment. Unused practice days cost nothing. There is no broken-flame theatre.
- No dark patterns. Clear price, clear cancel, no fake countdown clocks pretending a founding window is always about to explode.
These are not soft preferences. They are product rules. If a feature needs shame to keep engagement, it does not ship as measurement.
What practice looks like instead
Each practice offers up to three inputs per day. The day boundary is early morning in your timezone - not midnight theatre. You can mark done, not done, or skipped. Using all three locks that practice until the next day boundary - a capacity rule, not a morality tale.
A genuine attempt is a real moment in your life, not a replay in your head. Partial attempts and honest "no relevant moment" logs are valid. Rest and connection are not lesser outcomes when they are the fitting branch.
Progress Check only opens after real practice eligibility - not after a calendar trophy. Side-by-side self-view is descriptive. It does not claim TCP caused the shift. More on that in Progress Check is not a grade.
Why this is harder for the business - and better for you
Streaks inflate retention charts. Honesty can look quieter in the short term. We still choose honesty, because the product promise is simple: train one real capability, keep an append-only record, and never rewrite yesterday to flatter you.
If life gets busy for two weeks, your Living Report still holds what you already logged. Nothing deletes your history to punish the gap. That is the whole point of an append-only Living Report.
Pricing stays plain too: see the one Premium unlock. Or start free and never meet a broken flame.
