Starting Point is not a personality quiz
Five honest self-view items. No total. No type. A baseline that exists so Progress Check can meet it later - without inventing who you are.
The first time a product asks how often something happens in your life, it is usually hunting for a number it can sell back to you. A color. A type. A shareable badge that says you are "72% assertive" or "low grit" or somehow "ready for the next module."
TCP's Starting Point refuses that hunt.
You answer five self-view items on a plain frequency scale - from "never or not yet" through "almost every time," with room for "not sure." That is the whole instrument. There is no total waiting at the bottom of the page. There is no fused score across protocols. There is no story about your personality hiding behind the answers.
Same five items twice. Descriptive, not a grade.
Why a baseline without a score
A score is a conclusion. A baseline is a photograph.
If we turned Starting Point into a quiz, we would be forced to author who you are before you had practiced anything. That is how training products become entertainment: they give you a label early, then spend the rest of the product defending it.
We would rather take a quiet first photograph and leave room for a second one later. Progress Check uses the same five items after real practice eligibility. Side-by-side is how movement becomes visible. A quiz total is how movement becomes theatre.
"Not sure" is first-class
False precision is a quiet lie. If the scale forces you to pretend you know, the record becomes marketing for the product instead of evidence for you.
"Not sure" keeps the receipt honest. When Progress Check cannot compare a missing or uncertain side, the report says so plainly - "can't compare yet" - instead of inventing a trend line to keep the dashboard looking full.
That is slower dopamine. It is cleaner science for a training product.
What Starting Point is preparing
Starting Point is not busywork before the "real" content. It is the first half of a twin instrument.
Framework still has to make the model thinkable. Action Studio still asks for one real plan. Practice still asks for life. Starting Point simply refuses to become a diagnosis dressed as insight. Without a clean baseline, a later Progress Check cannot stay descriptive. With one, you can look at before → now without pretending the platform authored your life.
If you want the twin from the other end, read Progress Check is not a grade. To see where Starting Point sits in the loop, walk the eight stages.
